Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Gerd Gutekunst is a banker and studied business administration at the University of Mannheim. He then worked on numerous research projects at the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim. He led a research project for the German Research Foundation and is co-founder of the BAK Taxation Index, which has regularly determined the tax attractiveness of all 26 Swiss cantons and their most important international corporate locations since 2003. He completed his doctorate under Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. On July 7, 2025, he was finally appointed honorary professor by the Dean of the KIT Faculty of Economics on behalf of the KIT.
After holding positions at KPMG AG and Commerzbank AG, he has headed the Group Tax Department of EnBW AG since 2013, where he and his team are responsible for the tax affairs of EnBW AG and a large number of subsidiaries for all direct (income taxes) and indirect taxes (VAT, energy taxes).
